The longing for summer is a feeling that many people experience when autumn and winter arrive, or, as in Oliver's case, when summer is a long time coming. It is the longing for sun, warmth and the beautiful things of summer like the beach, ice cream and long days. Memories of past summers and not knowing how long it will be until the next one can intensify the feeling. But the anticipation of next summer can also be a positive force that drives us through the winter and motivates us to get through the cold months.

Oliver expresses his longing by recalling experiences from the previous summers.

There is the adventure on a high seat,

the flight to the south,
